University of Saskatchewan Student Named 2014 Regional Student Entrepreneur Champion

CALGARY, ALBERTA (March 3, 2014) – Anastasia Szalasznyj, owner of Winter Girl Boots & Accessories and full-time student at the University of Saskatchewan, has been named 2014 Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation, as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Szalasznyj received the title of Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion by tuning into what every Canadian wants to do, “give winter the boot.” Winter Girl Boots & Accessories offers customers stylish boots designed with winter in mind; boots of the finest vegan-leather that are warmly lined with deeply imbedded grips.

A panel of local entrepreneurs and business leaders voted Anastasia regional champion for her financial accomplishments and brand development. Winter Girl made $34,000 in revenue in only 12 weeks.

“Anastasia is an incredibly focused businesswoman who has found a very unique market niche,” said Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “She was named Regional Champion because of Winter Girl’s high quality products and impressive sales, but also because of Anastasia’s vision for the brand.”

Anastasia will compete against five other Student Entrepreneur Regional Champions from across Canada for the national title at the 2014 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Calgary, Alberta taking place April 28-30. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.
